Anytime I need inspiration or a fresh perspective, I tour historic homes around Florida. I enjoy learning about the property and the people who lived/ built them. Recently, I visited the Stranahan House in Fort Lauderdale. Although the house is entirely overshadowed by mansions, yachts, and looming skyscrapers, it is a true treasure on the New River. The Stranahan House is the oldest surviving structure in Broward County. Since 1901, the property has served many roles, including trading post, post office, town hall, and home.
