Florida’s housing market has been one of the nation’s most scrutinized over the past few years — from pandemic-era boom conditions to the more measured trends we saw in 2025. While the concept has sparked curiosity, it’s important to note: 50-year mortgages are not currently available in the U.S. housing market, and FHA first-time home buyers will not be offered this option(for now). Still, it’s worth understanding what such a loan could mean for the future of homeownership — and the potential pros and cons if it ever becomes available.

Potential Pros of a 50-Year Mortgage

If 50-year mortgages were to be introduced, here’s what they might offer:

1. Lower Monthly Payments

Sure! Here's a blog post tailored to explain how the Big Beautiful Bill impacts homebuyers in the state of Florida. If this is a fictional or placeholder bill name, please clarify—otherwise, I'll assume it's a legislative bill recently passed or proposed with that title. For this post, I’ll create a realistic, engaging write-up assuming it’s a housing-related reform bill intended to improve affordability and streamline the homebuying process.

Saying goodbye to a home you love is deeply emotional—it's not just walls and a roof you're parting with, but years of memories, comfort, and identity. Here are a few meaningful ways to honor that goodbye:

1. Reflect and Remember

  • Walk through each room and recall your favorite memories.

  • Take photos or videos, especially of spaces that hold sentimental meaning.

  • Write a letter to the home—thank it for sheltering you, for the laughter, for the quiet.

2. Create a Keepsake

  • Save something small: a doorknob, a light switch plate, a floorboard (if possible), or even a clipping from the garden.

  • Make a scrapbook or memory box with photos, stories, and perhaps a drawing or floor plan of the house.

I asked on my social platforms for Real Estate Questions for this Q&A session in March. Thank you to everyone who participated. This Q&A is based on Central Florida-specific real estate.

Q: Why are there so many open houses right now? (As of March 2025)

A: Florida’s housing market is still competitive. Open houses are a strategic marketing tool to attract Buyers to a neighborhood or specific house. Open houses are a great way to reach buyers without an agent (buyer broker agreement). Open houses create urgency by showing demand and attract more foot traffic by capitalizing on weekend traffic for high-interest markets.

Q: What is a Buyer Brokerage Agreement?

A: The Buyer Brokerage Agreement, or BBA, is a legal contract between the Buyer and…

Anytime I need inspiration or a fresh perspective, I tour historic homes around Florida. I enjoy learning about the property and the people who lived/ built them. Recently, I visited the Stranahan House in Fort Lauderdale. Although the house is entirely overshadowed by mansions, yachts, and looming skyscrapers, it is a true treasure on the New River. The Stranahan House is the oldest surviving structure in Broward County. Since 1901, the property has served many roles, including trading post, post office, town hall, and home. It is now open for historical tours and events. I won't give the full history here, but I hope you will also tour this historic home.

My biggest takeaway is that Ivy Cromartie Stranahan was an incredible woman. She was the first…
